Women’s basketball defeats MSU in weekend matchup

The Jacksonville State University women’s basketball team faced off against Murray State and Austin Peay last week at home in Pete Mathew’s Coliseum, snatching a win from the Racers on Thursday, January 9, with a final score of 68-51 but facing a loss against the Lady Govs on Saturday, January 11, with a final score of 57-63.

JSU volleyball’s strong season comes to a close

Coming off their historic regular season and being crowned the Ohio Valley Conference champions, the Gamecock volleyball squad moved on in the post season to compete in the OVC tournament. Being regular season conference champions, Jacksonville State was automatically slotted in the quarterfinal match where they faced off against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This was the second straight time the two teams had met in the opening round of the OVC tournament. It would also be the second consecutive year that JSU would move on with a 3-0 clean sweep.

JSU volleyball wins OVC title

The past weekend proved to be one for the history books for Jacksonville State as the volleyball team took down Belmont and Tennessee State to claim the Ohio Valley Conference title. This is the team’s first conference title in ten years and guarantees them a spot in the OVC Volleyball Tournament.

JSU suffers heartbreak against SEMO

This past Saturday, the Jacksonville State volleyball team traveled to Cape Girardeau, Missouri in hopes of beating Southeastern Missouri State University for the top spot in the OVC. Leading up to the match, both the Gamecocks and the Redhawks were both tied for this spot and this showdown would serve as a tie-breaker for the two. Unfortunately, Jax State came up short following a nail-biting four-set battle that ended with Southeast Missouri capturing the victory in a 3-1 decision.
