OPINION: Expectations vs. reality with the pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic was, without a doubt, an unpleasant surprise to the world. There have been many losses due to this new disease, and it has been hard for everyone to adapt to the new “new”. The common every day event of going to school has definitely been altered in a way that would have been unimaginable a year ago.

OPINION: College athletes using their platform is a good thing

College football got under way over the weekend, with mostly Group of Five (American, Conference USA and Sun Belt are the three conferences of the group playing) taking the field. We also saw one of our fellow Ohio Valley Conference foes, Eastern Kentucky, take the field against Conference USA’s Marshall. One thing we saw among the games this weekend, however, was much bigger than football.

OPINION: Why Facebook is to blame for division in the United States

Facebook was introduced to the world in February of 2004. I was about to celebrate my second birthday, “Hey Ya!” by Outkast was at Number 1 on the Billboard charts, and the iPhone was almost three years away. And instantly the idea from 19-year-old Harvard sophomore, Mark Zuckerberg, was a hit but also a controversy.
