It’s once again that time of the year when the Oscar heavyweights emerge, and audiences can go to theaters with several truly great movies to choose from. Fortunately for many, what will undoubtedly be seen as one of the best films of the year, Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, can be watched in the comfort of their homes. For the second year in a row, Netflix has produced one of the best films of the year, and should be very optimistic about its chances as the awards season approaches.

Jacksonville State football players, Daniel Byrd, Josh Brady, Jalen Choice and Christian Wafford have recently been picked to play in the 2019 FCS bowl. This matchup is an annual post-season game for FCS senior all-star players. These athletes will have a chance to play in front of scouts for the NFL and Canadian Football League.

The bike share service VeoRide will be pulling its bikes from Calhoun County, including Jacksonville, Anniston and Oxford, according to a spokesman for the company. VeoRide has operated in Calhoun County since January 2019.

Coming off their historic regular season and being crowned the Ohio Valley Conference champions, the Gamecock volleyball squad moved on in the post season to compete in the OVC tournament. Being regular season conference champions, Jacksonville State was automatically slotted in the quarterfinal match where they faced off against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This was the second straight time the two teams had met in the opening round of the OVC tournament. It would also be the second consecutive year that JSU would move on with a 3-0 clean sweep.
