Gamecocks continue hot streak with 86-81 win over Central Arkansas

On Tuesday evening, the red-hot Jacksonville State basketball team notched yet another win to remain undefeated in conference play. With the win, the Gamecocks advanced their win streak to six and are now 8-2 in their last ten games.

JSU and the Bellarmine Knights are now tied for first in the ASUN West Division. However, the Gamecocks hold the tiebreaker over Bellarmine as they boast a better overall win percentage.

In the win, all five starters scored over ten points on the night. However, junior DeMaree King came off the bench and led the Gamecocks in points with 20. Senior Darian Adams led the team with seven rebounds.

At the half, the Gamecocks were left trailing the Bears, 41-39, after surrendering a five point lead they held with two minutes remaining in the half. 

After battling back and forth throughout the contest, the score sat tied at 81 points apiece with just seconds left to play. Kanye Henry was able to secure the win with a dunk that gave the Gamecocks a lead that they carried to the last few seconds of the game.

With the win, Jacksonville State now sits atop the ASUN West with an 11-6 overall record and a 4-0 record in conference play. The Gamecocks will return home to take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Saturday at 4 p.m.
