University police investigate shooting at Campus Inn

The Jacksonville State University Police Department is investigating a shooting that occured at Campus Inn Apartments on Wednesday, September 8. 

According to a statement released by the Jacksonville State University Facebook page, officers received reports of an incident involving two non-students at the apartment complex. The call came in at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, and officers were on the scene within one minute. 

One individual suffered what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The person’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and they are being treated at a local hospital.

The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing. Campus police encourage anyone with information to contact 256-782-5050.

While a JSU Alert was issued to students last night, police believe there is no immediate threat to the campus. However, students should stay safe and continue to pay attention to campus alerts.
