Netflix has done it again. Another Netflix Original series has graced our screens and made its way onto the top ten list. The growing popularity of “Emily in Paris” caught my attention immediately and I decided to give it a shot. Simply reading the description of the show convinced me to give it a chance, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

I have a bad habit of growing bored with shows very easily, which means I watch maybe a couple of episodes and if a single thing happens within the conflict that I don’t like, I give up. It’s definitely not my proudest habit I have. I was weary that this show would cause this tragic habit to flare up again, but it did quite the opposite.

I was instantly captivated by the characters and the journey of self-discovery Emily so desperately set out for. She left all she had known and took a risk, something most of us wish we would do. Emily’s journey is not the only prospect of the show that caused me to binge it in less than two days. Unlike some series, this one doesn’t take so long to build the storyline up. It happened immediately, and I was living for it.

Though it’s a series primarily focused on romance, and lots of it (yay), there is so much more to the storyline that even romance haters can enjoy such as the journey of self-discovery that lands Emily in Paris. It also sheds light on the marketing field and all that plays into it. It’s quite interesting how the show creators managed to incorporate that so beautifully.

Lily Collins stars in the series playing the lead role Emily, and she did a heck of a job. The characters within the show are so dynamic and they all play a crucial role that adds depth to the series. The chemistry is there between all of the characters and I believe one of the biggest reasons this show is so incredible is because of how well the actors and actresses work together on set.

In the first season there are ten episodes ranging anywhere from 25-40 minutes, and each one is packed with even more drama than the last. Predictability is noticed throughout the show, but not as much as there usually is in series much like this one. I will say that there were some parts of the storyline that completely caught me off guard, which is all I can ask for to make a series like this stand out to me and other viewers.

One of the best things about this show is the cliffhanger in the very last episode. I was so sure the storyline was going in a certain direction and then I got to the last few minutes of the last episode and it takes a different turn.

I’m usually weary of Netflix Originals just because of the cringey content that was produced once they first began showing Netflix Originals, but they have really upped their game and I can’t get enough of it.

Hopefully with the outpouring love of the series from fans Netflix will get the hint and renew the series for another season. The fans deserve more answers and definitely more of the romance and self-discovery that makes this series truly one of a kind. 10/10. Check it out.
