Reformed University Fellowship was formed in the early 1970s, but has been an organization at Jacksonville State since 2012. RUF is meant to help students deepen their spiritual lives as they grow academically in college.

On a day-to-day basis this organization meets in small groups to talk about different topics. The organization prides itself on always having someone like pastor Daniel and/or intern Hannah to talk when someone is in need.

RUF works incredibly hard to help all those in need. The organization is known to send members on mission trips to places such as New Orleans and New York. Most recently, though, they sent students to a summer conference in PCB during 2019 to aid in helping build sheds when Hurricane Michael hit.

COVID-19 has altered procedures for all organizations on campus, and this one is dealing with the shift very well. To keep members involved in the organization despite the ongoing pandemic, the organization has begun having small group and individual meetings while saving their larger meetings through virtual platforms. Larger groups are slowly beginning to be permitted around campus, which allows RUF to resume in-person Wednesday night meetings.

Getting involved with RUF is easy. Begin by following their Instagram account where the ministry keeps members up-to-date. Their GroupMe is also listed in their bio on their Instagram account. If you’re still on the fence about joining this amazing organization, they’ve made it easy for you. There are no commitments. RUF leaves their membership open and does not require any sort of commitment, and you’re able to join any gathering they host.

RUF loves contributing many attributes to the university. They believe their presence, along with the free food and other fun events for the general student population, is some of their prime attributions to the university.

The organization meets Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. Make sure to keep your eyes on their Instagram account as well as the JSU event calendar for updates on meetings and RUF sponsored-events.

RUF is an on-campus community of the convinced and unconvinced seeking to love JSU, form lasting friendships, ask tough questions about the faith and follow Jesus.
