The Jacksonville State Gamecocks (18-15, 7-8 OVC) fell 9-4 to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (15-19, 8-10 OVC) on Sunday at Rudy Abbott Field.
Hayden White scored two runs and two hits, while Gavin Golsan scored one run and two hits. Clayton Daniel had two hits and one RBI. Paschal Petrongolo scored one run, one hit and one RBI, and Ryan Sebra had one hit and one RBI. Tyler Gamble and Paul Angel also had one hit.
Jake Walsh started the game for Jacksonville State. He went 4.1 innings, gave up seven runs on eight hits, and walked one. Jesse Fry pitched 2.2 innings, allowed one hit and walked two. Michael McCreless and Justin Hoyt both pitched one inning, allowing one run, giving up one hit and walked one.
In the third inning, Daniel singled to right field, allowing White to score the first run for the Gamecocks. Later in the inning, Petrongolo sacrificed to left center giving Golsan a chance to cross home plate.
In the fifth, Daniel grounded into a 5-4-3 double play, but White was allowed to score unearned. Sebra then singled to left field, bringing Petrongolo home.
Jacksonville State lost the first of their three-game series with Tennessee Tech, falling 8-10 on Friday. On Saturday, they were able to get the win with a 8-7 victory in 13 innings.
On Tuesday, the Gamecocks will travel to Kennesaw, Ga., to face the Kennesaw State Owls (19-16), before returning to Rudy Abbott Field on Wednesday to take on the Alabama State Hornets (23-11).
On Friday, Jacksonville State will head to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to face the Southeast Missouri Redhawks (21-14, 13-5 OVC) in exciting Ohio Valley Conference action!
